Bentrokan Pecah di Moskwa

MOSCOW, KOMPAS.com - Clashes broke out between police and demonstrators in downtown Moscow, Tuesday (12/06/2011) tonight. Police reportedly arrested several protesters, including a prominent opposition.

Hundreds of police had blocked Triumfalnaya Ploshchad Square since Tuesday afternoon, to disperse the demonstrators, protesting against the numerous allegations of fraud in parliamentary elections on Sunday.

Moscow police had banned the demonstration was held again, after they missed the first protest on Monday that followed thousands of people.

Police then began chasing the demonstrators, arresting them, and put it into the police cars that were waiting. Interfax news agency reported, among the demonstrators who were detained there is Boris Nemtsov, leader of the liberal opposition.

United Russia party led by Vladimir Putin still in control of parliament by winning more than 49 percent of the vote. However, the victory of the party accused as a result of electoral fraud, including the manipulation of voters lists and ballot boxes have been filled in the ballot before the ballot takes place.
