History of Batik Malaysia Launches Book

Kuala Lumpur - Despite batik has been recognized by UNESCO as cultural heritage of Indonesia, but it did not dampen efforts to continue promoting Malaysian batik is typical of the country. As part of that effort, batik history book launched in Malaysia today.
The book titled "Malaysian Batik: Reinventing a Tradition" was launched by former Malaysian prime minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

Launch of book by Datin Noor Azlina Yunus coincided with the start of the Convention and Exhibition Kuala Lumpur International Batik (KLIB) 2011 in Kuala Lumpur today. Batik exhibition will last three days.

When launching the book, Badawi urged Malaysians to write more books about the history, culture and heritage.

"Writing a book about the culture and our heritage is a great service for our country," Badawi said as quoted by the official Malaysian news agency, Bernama, Friday (12/09/2011).

It is said Badawi, the books will make the young and future generations continue to get information so they can understand and appreciate the culture and heritage.

Books on the history of batik is sold at a price of 110 ringgit. 176 pages thick book that tells about the origins of batik, materials, methods of manufacture and batik motifs. The book also tells how the Malaysian batik craft has been transformed into an international flavor.
