Kuala Lumpur - Despite batik has been recognized by UNESCO as cultural heritage of Indonesia, but still heavily promoting Malaysian batik is typical of his country. Malaysia will hold the event the International Batik Convention and Exhibition Kuala Lumpur (KLIB) which will begin on Friday, December 9 next. Even in the event that will last three days, will launch the book on the history of Malaysian batik.

"We wanted to share our work for the development of Malaysian batik," said Budi Merciful Foundation CEO Datuk Leela Mohd Ali, who held the event, as reported by Malaysian daily, The Star, Wednesday (12/07/2011).

In the event it will launch a book detailing the Malaysian batik industry. The book titled "Malaysian Batik: Reinventing a Tradition" will be launched on December 9.

The book tells the origins of batik, materials, methods and hand-stamped batik and batik motiv motiv-and how the Malaysian batik has turned into a craft with an international flavor. The book is scheduled to be launched by former Malaysian prime minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi in Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre building.

According to Leela, the book is one of the foundation initiative to try to revitalize the Malaysian batik industry to adapt to the needs of fashion.

"We are now in phase six, and the launch of this book is very special to remember the book describes the creativity and the rise of Malaysian batik industry," said Leela.

The event will feature over 100 booths displaying batik products locally and internationally. In addition, there will be presentations by 19 experts in various fields as well as batik fashion show.
