"Systematic efforts to withhold information the Iranian government for its citizens - to control what is seen and heard the Iranian people - will fail in the 21st century is when the technology to empower citizens around the world," remarked the White House.
State Department spokesman Mark Toner said the United States, Iran's welcome to create a similar virtual embassy aimed at Americans. U.S. and Iran has so far not had diplomatic relations since the Islamic revolution in Iran in 1979. At that Iranians toppled the shah of Iran's pro-Western and occupied the U.S. embassy in Tehran for 444 days.
