Drugs smuggled into China, South Africa Women Injected Death

Johannesburg - The Chinese government injected the death of a woman citizen of South Africa (South Africa) for committing a crime of smuggling drugs into the Bamboo Curtain country. Upon this, the government of South Africa expressed deep regret over the refusal by the Chinese government for clemency.
Janice Linden (35) was convicted for trying to smuggle three kilograms of shabu to Guangzhou, China, in 2008. Sabu is hidden in the suitcase luggage, but was eventually caught by the police.
"Executions were carried out around 10:00 South African time. Our embassy officials were there along with his family. He has two sisters there," said a spokeswoman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Africa, Clayson Monyela, told AFP on Monday (12/12 / 2011).
"We are disappointed because we've expressed that we asked for a death sentence against him was changed to a life sentence, replace the execution," he added.
Linden found guilty in a trial that was held in 2009. Linden has taken all legal measures available, ranging from appeals to the review. But unfortunately these efforts do not produce any results.
South African government has filed a petition to the Chinese government to change its Linden verdict of death sentence into life imprisonment. Application shall be filed even on the sidelines of the UN meeting to discuss the issue of climate in Durban, South Africa, on Sunday (11/12).
"Even on the sidelines of COP17, the Minister (of Foreign Affairs of South Africa) summoned the Chinese Ambassador. We beg pardon again and again," said Monyela.
But a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, Liu Weimin, said that the law has been enforced. "In dealing with drug crime, the Chinese government's position has been consistent and clear. Are they foreigners or citizens of China, the Chinese government will handle the case according to law," said Weimin separately in Beijing.
Government of South Africa and China have a close relationship. Both are strong trading partners.
